Join me online this Wednesday morning for our weekly Therapeutic Repair Class! Here’s what I’ve got on the menu this week:
Wed. Sept. 11th – 9:30-10:45 am – Ribcage Mobility Class
The human ribcage, in all of its complexities, is a system of interconnected structures which play roles in both stability and mobility. Through the strength of its structure, we rely on it to protect and support many areas in our body. Our lungs and heart rely on it for protection and structure, it allows us to create a stable anchor for our incredibly versatile shoulders to attach to, our highly mobile neck requires it as a foundation of support for it’s base, and we also use it to create communication and stability of movement for our lower back and pelvis, allowing them to coordinate with the rest of the body for safe function. From a mobility standpoint, the tiny movements available at our ribcage’s 24 individual joints allows it to create the vacuum that makes breathing (and therefore life) possible, creates the space to absorb pressure and protect our spine and joints, creates the ability for our arms and legs to coordinate with our spine, and even contributes to the availability of a healthy range of motion in every single joint in the body, including our toes! In this class, we will give the ribcage the care it deserves! Through joint decompression, fascial rolling, deep stretching, and targeted mobility exercises, we will learn to restore both the natural range of motion and stability of our ribcage, reducing pain in our neck, shoulders, and back, as we explore and reconceptualize the many roles this incredible structures offers to the enjoyment of our lives!
