Join me online this Tuesday for a special Pop-Up Class, or on Wednesday morning for our weekly Therapeutic Repair Class! Here’s what I’ve got on the menu this week:
Tues. May 7th – 11:00am – 12:00pm – Elbows, Arms, & Wrists
Take a moment to image what life might be like if you didn't have the use of your hands and arms? We use these areas of our body all day, every day, and yet they are the areas of the body that often get neglected in our self care routines. That is, until they become painful with tendonitis, arthritis, carpal tunnel, or other degenerative changes and we realize how limiting these conditions can be. In this class we will take a look at the entire arm and all of it's joints to explore the intricate fascial structures that often become adhered and restricted in today's modern use of the body as we repair, regenerate, and ensure that these wonderful hands continue to serve us through our entire life!
Wed. May 8th – 9:30-10:45 am – Yoga Therapy for the Blues: Understanding Depression, Dissociation, & Grief
In this class we will take a look at what happens in our nervous system when we are experiencing the immobilizing effects of a 'Dorsal Vagus' activation in our Parasympathetic Nervous System, representing our "Freeze, Fawn, or Play Dead" responses. Like all neural states, there is a scale, or escalation of emotional experiences which may be experienced during activation, and our Dorsal Vagus cause us to feel anything from sad, unmotivated, helpless, ashamed, or numb, to depressed, dissociated, trapped, hopeless, or shutdown.
Whether the experience is a short-term response to a difficult situation or a bad day, a result of traumatic experience, or a chronic activation that makes life feel like the sun will never shine again, this class will help you understand what is happening within in these difficult moments in life, and will give you the tools to help you cope and move your nervous system move back into a place of healing and connection again!
