Anyone else out there feel that these last 2 years of have taken you far away from the fitness and self-care routines that used to be so well established before covid? The world has indeed changed and it’s time for us to embrace the positive sides of what has happened (by which I mean all of the amazing new virtual options that used to never exist in the world of yoga) and get back to finding the discipline and enthusiasm for regular self-work!
I recently attended Devon French’s Virtual Handstand Focus class and it was incredible! I was a bit hesitant to attend as my inversion practice is not that strong in the first place, and after breaking my thumb and tearing it’s articular cartilage last year, I have been avoiding most weight bearing exercises. Devon and I are good friends and he has been my yoga teacher for the better part of a decade now so I trust him when he tells me I can handle it. I was thrilled to see that most of the class was not spent in a handstand position at all! Instead, we spent the better part of the hour working on our building our core, stabilizing our shoulders, and learning to understand and be mindful of the biomechanics of healthy joint movement. It was a great workout, highly accessible, and whole lot of fun! I highly recommend giving it a try!
