Welcome to the CWY Team: Sue Armstrong

Centered Within Yoga is very excited to welcome the newest member of our teaching team, Sue Armstrong! Sue brings with her the wisdom and knowledge of 20 years of practice and we are honored and grateful to have her share them with this community!

About Sue:

Sue is a Registered 500 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher. She has been practicing yoga for 20 years and in 2016, she traveled to India to complete her Yoga Teacher Training. While living in India, she helped co-found and co-create Vishnu Yoga Shala, a Yoga Teacher Training School in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. At the school, Sue was a teacher of Classical Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Meditation, Pranayama, and Yogic Philosophy. Sue began her spiritual journey at the age of 15 where she was introduced to a meditation teacher in the hopes of giving her tools to calm her mind. After a year of weekly practice, Sue transformed from an anxious child to a person excited to explore the world. Meditation gave Sue her life back. In the years to come, Sue discovered Yoga which became an important part of her journey, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Sue began more training and learning which brought her to study Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupressure. She is now a Registered Shiatsu Therapist. Her interest in psychology and mental health brought her to complete a program in Social Work as Social Service Worker. Sue has traveled and lived in multiple countries, learning as much as she could where ever she went. Aside from living almost 2 years in an Ashram in India, she spent 3 years living in Chile where she was introduced to Sivananda Yoga and the Classical Style of Hatha Yoga. Sue is dedicated to living and teaching Yoga as a way of life. Infusing her classes with the philosophy of the practice in the hopes that she can inspire and support her students on their own journey. She enjoys being a support to her student’s goals while continuing to be an approachable and fun teacher. Her passion is in helping her students dive deep within the layers of their being and uncover what is hiding in order to lovingly face and release all that no longer serves them. From this place of vulnerability, we find true healing.

Classes with Sue:

Monday's - 7:00-8:15pm - TreeRoots Gallery & Studios

Sue weaves the Classical Hatha Yoga practices of Asana, Pranayama, and Meditative techniques with Yin Yoga, Yogic Philosophy, and emotional release to create classes that allow deep transformation and healing. The practices of Classical Hatha Yoga condition the body and stabilize the mind, developing self-compassion and realization of our true nature. We can then let go of old memories and emotions that no longer serve a purpose and move forward. The body once again becomes a safe and friendly vessel to freely move about the world. While these classes are transformative, they are also lighthearted and fun. Healing allows us to shake off our mistakes and find humor in even the heaviest of times. A now well-known quote states “yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self” As we continue to practice Yoga, we begin to appreciate this meaning.

Currently, Sue is offering only in-person classes at the TreeRoots Gallery & Studio in Maple Ridge, BC. To learn more about what to expect at this venue, click HERE.
