Time & Location
Dec 11, 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. PST Maple Ridge, 22764 Lougheed Hwy., Maple Ridge, BC V2X 2V6, Canada
Join Erin Jacob and Nicole Von Chorus to understand the new science which is challenging traditional views of the human stress response, mental health, and trauma. Gone are the days of the black and white analogy of a switch that pulls us back and forth between a 'rest-and-digest' and 'fight-or-flight' modes as needed. Most of us know that life is not black and white, and neither are the emotions or responses we experience as we work to navigate through the diverse set of conditions, memories, reactions and opportunities we encounter throughout our ever-changing lives.
In this three-hour workshop, we will cover the anatomy and function of key areas of the nervous system related to anxiety, depression, mood regulation, and trauma-related stress patterns, as well as how the polyvagal model parallels fundamental yogic philosophy and practice. Through a therapeutic yoga practice, we will focus on developing skills for managing our behavioral and bodily response to stress, restoring balance and safety to our nervous system, and increasing our ability to tolerate adversity and rise to the challenges of life!
