ANCHORED IN NATURE: Nature-Based Nervous System Yoga - Sat. Aug. 26th

Join Nicole Von Chorus outdoors this August at Cliff Park, Maple Ridge and learn how to regulate your nervous system, improve your walking biomechanics, reduce stress, and enjoy the healing power of nature!

Sat. Aug. 26th - 1:00am-12:00pm

Cliff Park, Maple Ridge BC

Join Nicole for a unique experience of learning how to regulate your nervous system in nature. Research has shown that nature and yoga together can be an antidote for stress: It can lower blood pressure and stress hormone levels, reduce nervous system arousal, enhance immune system function, increase self-esteem, reduce anxiety, and improve mood. This isn’t just your average yoga in the park!

We practice using the therapeutic tools of polyvagal theory to manage stress in the body in a nature based format, based on themes of the popular CWY workshop series ANCHORED: a 6-Week Course in Nervous System Regulation. We will practice the therapeutic techniques of grounding/intention setting, finding glimmers, mindful walking and yoga to explore ways to regulate our nervous system and enhance our sense of safety and happiness! We will also learn about the biomechanics of feet, mindfully improve our walking alignment, and learn how contact with the earth creates an electromagnetic grounding which impacts the health of the body.

Grounding / Intention Setting with Foot Biomechanics Lesson - 15 minutes

ERYT 200, M Ed. In Counselling Psychology

I received my yoga teacher training in 2015 after realizing how valuable yoga was in helping with people’s emotional and mental health. I have been a mental health counsellor over 14 years, mostly helping at risk youth and families who suffer from different types of mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, trauma, etc. I came across yoga used for people with trauma and began to see how valuable using the body was in conjunction with therapy. I received my 200-hour yoga teacher training ..... READ MORE
